Police: Noida Protest accused received Rs 1 Crore Foreign Funds

Noida Police on Thursday claimed that an accused linked to violent labour protests in the city received more than Rs 1 crore from foreign countries in his personal bank account.
According to the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police, the money was transferred in the form of dollars, pounds and euros to the account of accused Satyam Verma.
The revelations surfaced during an investigation into violent labour demonstrations that took place across Noida on April 13. Police said around 40,000 to 45,000 workers gathered at more than 80 locations, leading to major disruption and law and order concerns.
Authorities alleged that some protesters resorted to violence and arson in Sector 63 and near the Motherson company premises during the agitation.
Police said Satyam Verma, along with another accused identified as Akriti, played a key role in the protests and subsequent unrest. Both have now been booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
Verma was arrested from Lucknow on April 19 along with Himanshu Thakur. Police identified them as active members of left-wing workers’ rights group Bigul Mazdoor Dasta.
Earlier, police had also arrested Aditya Anand, who is suspected to be the mastermind behind the protests.
Investigators claimed Verma transferred funds received from foreign countries into multiple personal bank accounts. Authorities are currently scrutinising the financial transactions and examining organisations linked to the accused.
Police, however, have not disclosed the names of the countries from where the funds were allegedly received.
