No fuel shortage in Delhi: Govt

The Delhi Government on Wednesday said there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, LPG, or piped natural gas in the national capital and urged residents not to believe rumours about fuel scarcity. Officials said supplies of all major fuels remain normal and adequate stocks are available across the city.
The clarification came after reports and rumours circulated about a possible disruption in LPG supplies due to war-like developments in the Middle East. The Delhi government said such claims are unfounded and appealed to the public not to panic or engage in unnecessary hoarding.
A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of Delhi to assess the situation. Senior officials from the Department of Food, Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Delhi Police, the Revenue Department, Indraprastha Gas Limited, and oil marketing companies attended the meeting.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the fuel supply situation in detail and confirmed that there is no shortage of gas or petroleum products in the capital. Authorities said the supply chain for petrol, diesel, and LPG continues to function smoothly.
Officials from Indraprastha Gas Limited informed the meeting that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had issued an order on March 9 providing guidelines for proper and equitable distribution of domestic piped natural gas and compressed natural gas to priority sectors.
They clarified that the availability of domestic PNG in Delhi remains normal. After revising supply priorities, nearly 80 per cent of the uninterrupted gas supply has also been restored for industrial sectors. This step has helped maintain stability in supply while ensuring that households continue to receive adequate gas.
Representatives from oil marketing companies also assured the government that there is sufficient stock of petrol, diesel, and domestic LPG cylinders in Delhi. They said distribution networks are operating normally, and fuel supply across the city remains stable.
Officials noted that the booking interval for LPG cylinders has been increased from 21 days to 25 days.
