NIFTEM-K athletes shine at Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Games 2026

Athletes from National Institute of Food Technology, Kundli recorded outstanding performances at the 2026 Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Games. Krithika, daughter of Dr Thangalaxmi, Associate Professor, NIFTEM-K achieved a remarkable double Gold by winning in Bocce and Softball Throw, demonstrating excellence across precision and strength-based disciplines. Aarna, daughter of Professor Rakhi Singh, added to the success by securing a Silver Medal in Bocce.
The two-day Games which concluded on Friday in Chennai witnessed participation from India (host) and several countries including Sri Lanka, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and other Asia-Pacific nations, creating a strong and competitive multi-nation platform. The two event Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Games which concluded on Friday brought together athletes with Down syndrome competed in events such as bocce, softball throw, athletics, swimming, skating, and other adapted sports. “Their achievements at the event highlight not only their dedication and talent, but also the high standard of preparation and support that enabled them to excel on an international stage,” NIFTEM said in a statement.
