NDMC rolls out new plastic recycling drive

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Friday launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening plastic waste management through scientific collection, segregation, and recycling across the Lutyens’ Delhi area.
Named ‘Project D.R.O.P.’ (Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic), the initiative has been launched in collaboration with Kia India and the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), according to a statement.
At the launch, NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal unveiled community bins made from recycled plastic waste and flagged off a collection vehicle that will be used for the systematic collection and transportation of plastic waste in the NDMC area.
Addressing the event, Chahal said the initiative aligns with the vision of Swachh Bharat, Mission LiFE, and Viksit Bharat @2047, and seeks to promote responsible disposal of plastic waste while encouraging greater public participation in environmental protection.
“NDMC’s jurisdiction includes Parliament House, central government offices, embassies and other key institutions, making cleanliness and environmental initiatives in the area significant at both national and international levels,” Chahal said.
