Military veterans empowered through entrepreneurship workshop

Military veterans explored new pathways to self-employment and business success during an entrepreneurship workshop organised by NER Chapter PHDCCI.
The workshop aimed to equip veterans with the knowledge, skills and confidence to transition from military service to entrepreneurship. Sessions covered business planning, financial management, access to government schemes, marketing strategies, digital business opportunities and startup funding. Participants also interacted with successful entrepreneurs and industry experts, who shared practical insights and experiences.
Addressing the participants, AVM Sanjib Bordoloi, AVSM (Retd), emphasised that the leadership, discipline, resilience and problem-solving abilities developed during military service provide veterans with a strong foundation for entrepreneurial success. The speaker encouraged participants to leverage these strengths to create sustainable enterprises and contribute to local economic development.
Representatives from NER Chapter PHDCCI, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Guwahati, and The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) highlighted the various support mechanisms available to ex-servicemen, including training, mentoring, financial assistance and networking opportunities to help establish and grow their businesses. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 100 military veterans, who engaged actively in interactive sessions, discussions and networking opportunities. Participants appreciated the practical guidance provided and expressed confidence in applying the knowledge gained to pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the organiser’s commitment to supporting military veterans in achieving economic self-reliance through entrepreneurship.
