MCD approves equal pay for MTS employees

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has approved equal pay for all Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employees. Around 4,000 employees will benefit from the decision. A budget of Rs 50 crore has been set aside for this purpose.
Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh announced the decision at a press conference on Thursday. He said all MTS employees in the MCD will now receive equal pay. He added that the formal announcement will be made during the budget session by Leader of the House Pravesh Wahi.
The mayor said the demand for equal pay had been pending for a long time. He said earlier Governments had given assurances but did not implement the decision. “We have fulfilled the promise we made to MTS employees,” he said.
Leader of the House Pravesh Wahi said the decision was taken after discussions with the party’s top leadership. He said the BJP follows the principle of Antyodaya and works for the welfare of employees. He confirmed that Rs 50 crore has been allocated in the budget to ensure equal pay.
Wahi said that in the past, unnecessary obstacles had delayed the matter. He said the present leadership removed those hurdles. “We do what we say,” he added.
Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma said MTS employees had raised the issue many times. She said some employees were getting different pay scales earlier. This created inequality among staff members. She said the new decision will end the pay difference.
