Manipur CM promises normalcy

Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Wednesday asserted that his Government was committed to restoring normalcy, ensuring public safety and facilitating the free movement of all communities along the State’s national highways.
He made the remarks during a visit to Kanto Sabal village in Imphal West district, where at least three houses were recently set ablaze by a mob.
Singh urged people of the area to uphold peace and harmony, saying those were the foundation for the State’s progress.
During the visit, he also inspected the reconstruction of the houses damaged in the arson incident.
He said infrastructure, education and healthcare could flourish only in a peaceful environment, calling upon all sections of society to work together for the State’s inclusive growth and prosperity.
Singh said the Government was making every effort to ensure the free movement of all communities along the national highways passing through Manipur.
The Village Development Committee of Kanto Sabal, along with local Meira Paibis and representatives of village clubs, submitted a memorandum to the chief minister highlighting local issues and security concerns.
The memorandum sought, among other things, stronger security arrangements in the area.
Singh assured the villagers that the issues raised would be examined and appropriate action would be taken in consultation with the departments concerned and security agencies.
