Assam Minister Rai reviews progress of AMRUT projects

Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai on Wednesday held a high-level review meeting with contractors to assess the progress of projects being implemented across the State under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
The meeting was held at the Conference Hall in the first floor of the newly constructed Block B of Janata Bhawan and was attended by Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, Kavita Padmanabhan; Managing Director, AMRUT Assam, Sampriti Goswami; Additional Managing Director, Shantanu Sutradhar and senior officials of the concerned departments.
During the review, the Minister was informed that all three Water Supply Projects undertaken under AMRUT 1.0 in Nagaon, Dibrugarh and Silchar have been successfully completed and handed over to the respective Urban Local Bodies for operation and maintenance.
It was also informed that under AMRUT 2.0, works have commenced for 23 Water Supply Projects, one Decentralized Faecal Treatment (DFT) Project and two Sewage Treatment Plant-cum-Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (STP-cum-FSTP) Projects across the State. Among the Water Supply Projects, the Lakhipur Water Supply Project in Cachar and the Tangla Phase-I and Phase-II Water Supply Projects have already become operational. Expressing satisfaction over the successful completion and handover of the three Water Supply Projects under AMRUT 1.0, Minister Rai directed all concerned stakeholders to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the completed projects and to discharge their responsibilities with utmost accountability.
