Man throws papers, abuses CJI Surya Kant inside Supreme Court

High drama unfolded in the Supreme Court on Friday after a petitioner appearing in person allegedly abused Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, threw papers inside the courtroom and disrupted proceedings before being escorted out by security personnel.
The incident occurred around 11 am before a partial working-day Bench of Justices K V Viswanathan and Alok Aradhe during the hearing of a Special Leave Petition.
The petitioner, identified as Prabal Pratap, introduced himself as "the sovereign" and addressed the judges as "judicial servants." He allegedly demanded that the Bench direct the registration of an FIR against an Additional Superintendent of Police in Lucknow over alleged cybercrime-related issues. When questioned by the Bench over his conduct, he allegedly began abusing the Chief Justice and threw papers into the courtroom, disrupting the proceedings.
Court security personnel immediately intervened and escorted him out of the courtroom. He was briefly detained inside the Supreme Court premises.
Despite the disruption, the Bench decided not to initiate contempt proceedings or any other coercive action against the petitioner.
Pronouncing the order, Justice Viswanathan said the court found no merit in the Special Leave Petition and dismissed it. He later observed that the petitioner appeared to be "very disturbed" and that the court had "only sympathies for him."
The case before the Supreme Court challenged an Allahabad High Court order, which had upheld a trial court's decision to treat the petitioner's application as a private complaint instead of directing the registration of an FIR. The High Court had advised him to pursue the appropriate legal remedy, and the Supreme Court found no grounds to interfere with that decision.
With the dismissal of the Special Leave Petition, the matter stands closed.
