Man held in Gujarat for promoting ISIS ideology on social media

Gujarat Police have arrested Fakirmamad Isha Gagda, a 32-year-old resident of Lodai village in Bhuj taluka, Kutch district, for allegedly spreading the ideology of the banned terrorist organisation ISIS through social media.
According to Gujarat Police officials, Gagda was running separate accounts on Instagram and Facebook for nearly four years. He regularly posted inflammatory content glorifying 'Islamic war', the establishment of a caliphate (Khilafat) and jihad, thereby inciting people against India's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
The West Kutch-Bhuj Special Operations Group (SOG) acted on specific intelligence about suspicious anti-national activity originating from Lodai village. During the operation, police seized his mobile phone and recovered direct evidence of the offending posts and related material.
Investigators are now conducting intensive interrogation to identify any wider network, foreign or domestic contacts, or handlers behind the online radicalisation campaign. Senior security agencies are also assisting in the probe.
The arrest of Fakairmand, denotes ongoing vigilance by Gujarat police against online radicalisation, especially in the sensitive border region of Kutch. No other individuals have been named in connection with the case so far.
"His posts were not isolated incidents. Investigators believe the accused had been sharing such material consistently for nearly four years," police sources said. The posts allegedly called for 'Islamic war', glorified the caliphate and invoked jihad.
A case has been registered at Paddhar Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for promoting anti-national activities and incitement. Digital devices have been seized and sent for forensic examination.
Authorities are now examining the accused's contacts, communication history and online groups to determine whether he had links to a wider network. "We are working to establish whether others were involved," a senior officer said.
Officials added that strict legal action has been initiated and field officers have been directed to remain vigilant against similar online radicalisation activities. A case has been registered at Padhar Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
