Man held for revolver attack at jewellery shop

Delhi Police have arrested a man after a violent assault and armed altercation at a jewellery shop in Shahbad Dairy on Sunday. The accused allegedly used a licensed revolver to attack the shop owner but was caught on the spot by on-duty police staff. The firearm, along with live ammunition, was recovered from him by the police.
According to police, the incident took place on the evening of January 25 at a jewellery shop located in B-Block, Shahbad Dairy, in the Outer-North Delhi district. The local police station received information around 6.34 pm regarding a quarrel and assault at the shop. A police team was immediately rushed to the spot. By the time officers arrived, the injured victim had been taken to the hospital by local residents, while the main accused had already been intercepted by police personnel present in the area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer-North) Hareshwar Swami said the swift police response helped prevent the situation from escalating further. “The prompt and effective action by the Shahbad Dairy police team led to the immediate apprehension of the offender and recovery of the weapon of offence. Such timely intervention is crucial to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order,” the DCP said.
The injured has been identified as Prakash Soni (25), a resident of Shahbad Dairy, who runs ‘Rakesh Jewellery’ along with his father. Police said Soni sustained injuries on the right side of his scalp after being struck with a blunt object during the altercation. He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, where his medico-legal case (MLC) was prepared.
In his statement to the police, the complainant alleged that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute involving a mutual acquaintance.
