Man arrested for sexually assaulting 14-year-old daughter in Paharganj

In a disturbing case of familial abuse, the Delhi Police have arrested a man for the repeated sexual assault of his 14-year-old daughter in the Paharganj area. The minor victim, a Class 8 student, approached the Paharganj Police Station on Sunday. The victim, accompanied by her friends’ parents, lodged her complaint in the police station, leading to the immediate rescue operation and subsequent arrest of the accused.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central District) Anant Mittal confirmed the arrest and highlighted the police force’s rapid response to the complaint. “Considering the gravity and sensitivity of the offence, a special police team was immediately constituted,” DCP Mittal said. “The investigation was initiated immediately in accordance with the law, ensuring the victim was sent for a medical examination and her statement recorded before the competent authority.”
The ordeal reportedly began after the victim’s mother traveled to their native village in Bihar approximately 15 days prior to the report. The girl alleged that during her mother’s absence, her father took advantage of the situation. The most recent assault occurred on the night of January 31, at around 1:30 AM.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim was sleeping in a room with her father and younger sister at their residence. The accused allegedly sexually assaulted the minor despite her active resistance. The police noted that the father also extended threats to the girl to ensure her silence.
The victim revealed to investigators that this was not an isolated incident. She disclosed that similar assaults had occurred four to five times over the preceding 10 to 15 days. For weeks, the minor remained silent out of fear. She told officers that the accused had a history of violence and would brutally physically assault both her and her mother. However, fearing for the safety of her younger sibling, who was also present in the house, the victim ultimately decided to seek help.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Paharganj Police registered FIR No. 108/2026. The case has been filed under Section 64(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A dedicated team was formed to handle the case. Investigators moved quickly to secure the crime scene. A crime team inspected the residence and collected vital forensic and medical evidence. This included the seizure of bedsheets and the victim’s clothing. During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. He admitted to his involvement and confirmed that he had been threatening his daughter to prevent her from revealing the abuse.
