Man arrested for luring, kidnapping minor girl in Uttarakhand’s Kotdwar
Kotdwar, Sep 6 (PTI) Police in Uttarakhand's Pauri district have arrested a man accused of luring and abducting a 17-year-old girl, an official said on Sunday.
According to the police, the accused, Rohit, was arrested on Saturday evening from the Nagina area of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh, and the minor girl was recovered.
Police said that a resident of Kotdwar had lodged a complaint on September 2, alleging that someone had lured his minor daughter and kidnapped her.
An official said that based on the complaint, a case was registered at the Kotdwar police station under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police examined CCTV footage from the scene and surrounding areas, in which the minor girl was seen riding a motorcycle with a young man.
The official said that identifying the accused was challenging for the police because the motorcycle's registration number was unclear and both individuals had their faces covered.
The police said that after continuous analysis of CCTV footage, surveillance, and gathering information through other means, the team reached Nagina, and recovered the girl and arrested the accused.
