Man arrested for killing pregnant wife by inserting hacksaw blade into her private part

A 23-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly killed by her husband in a brutal assault in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district, police officials said.
The incident took place in Bhitthikala village under the Manipur police station limits on May 14. The accused, identified as Pradeep Agariya, was arrested from Ambikapur on Sunday and has reportedly confessed to the crime.
According to police, Agariya and his wife Heerabai had been married for nearly five years. Investigators said the accused frequently assaulted his wife while under the influence of alcohol.
Officials said the accused allegedly attacked Heerabai inside their home while their four-year-old daughter was present. After she lost consciousness, he reportedly took her to Ambikapur Medical College Hospital on a motorcycle and claimed she had suffered injuries in a road accident.
Doctors declared the woman dead after examination. Police said the accused fled from the hospital after learning about her death.
A post-mortem examination was conducted after the victim’s relatives arrived the following morning. Based on the autopsy report, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Doctors at the forensic medicine department of Ambikapur Medical College confirmed that the victim was three months pregnant and had suffered multiple external injuries. Medical officials also recovered an iron object during the examination, which has been sent for forensic analysis.
