Mamata Banerjee appears before Calcutta High Court in Post-Poll Violence case

Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee appeared before the Calcutta High Court in connection with a case related to alleged post-poll violence and attacks on party offices.
Banerjee reached the court wearing a lawyer’s gown and was accompanied by senior TMC leaders Chandrima Bhattacharya and Kalyan Banerjee.
The matter pertains to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed alleging widespread violence and attacks on Trinamool Congress workers and offices following the announcement of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election results.
According to the petition, several TMC leaders and workers were allegedly forced to flee their homes and faced attacks due to their association with the party.
The case was heard by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Parthasarathi Sen.
The Trinamool Congress, in a post on X, said Mamata Banerjee personally appeared before the court to argue the matter and termed the alleged post-poll violence as an attack on democratic values.
The party further said Banerjee continues to stand with the people of Bengal and fight for justice, constitutional values, and democracy, even as it criticised the BJP in its statement.
The appearance of the former Chief Minister in court has drawn significant political attention, highlighting the ongoing tensions over post-election violence allegations in the state.
