Major fire erupts at NDMC godown under Safdarjung flyover

A major fire broke out at a New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) godown located under the Safdarjung flyover on Friday evening. The incident prompted a large-scale emergency response by fire and police teams. According to officials, no casualties have been reported so far.
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the fire was reported at 6.02 pm, following which multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control amid heavy flames and thick smoke billowing from the godown, situated near the Prachin Shiv Mandir in the Safdarjung area.
An official of the Delhi Fire Services said that 14 fire tenders were initially mobilised to tackle the blaze. At the time writing the story, DFS said that “Our teams are working at the spot. If required, more fire tenders will be rushed,” adding that firefighting operations were still underway to prevent the fire from spreading further.
