Maharashtra TET 2026 postponed after question paper leak in Thane

The Maharashtra Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, scheduled to be held on June 28, has been postponed after the question paper was allegedly leaked nearly 24 hours before the examination. The Maharashtra State Examination Council (MSCE) took the decision to safeguard the transparency and integrity of the recruitment process.
According to officials, Bhiwandi Police acted on confidential information and raided a location where several individuals were allegedly found in possession of pages from the sealed TET question paper. Officials from the MSCE verified the recovered documents, following which a criminal case was registered at the Bhiwandi Police Station. Several suspects have been detained, and the investigation is underway.
The examination was to be conducted at 1,028 centres across Maharashtra, with nearly 4.28 lakh candidates expected to appear. Following the suspected leak, authorities decided to postpone the test to ensure a fair examination process.
The Maharashtra State Examination Council said a fresh examination date will be announced after the investigation progresses. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the council's official website for updates regarding the revised schedule and issuance of fresh admit cards.
The incident has once again raised concerns over examination security in the state, with authorities promising strict action against those involved in the alleged paper leak.
