Lucknow Influencer Mansi found dead in alleged dowry harassment case

A social media influencer was found dead at her in-laws’ residence in Lucknow in a suspected dowry harassment case, sparking serious allegations of murder by her family.
The deceased, Mansi from Kanpur, had married Sagar Rajput in 2024. According to the First Information Report (FIR), both were active on social media, with Rajput reportedly having a large following on Instagram.
Mansi’s family alleged that they had given around ₹7 lakh in cash along with household items as gifts at the time of marriage. However, they claimed that her in-laws remained dissatisfied and continued to demand additional dowry, including a car.
The family further alleged that Mansi was subjected to repeated mental and physical harassment after marriage due to unmet demands. They said she had informed them about the abuse multiple times, and they had also intervened on several occasions in an attempt to resolve the situation.
On Saturday, the family was informed that Mansi had died by suicide. However, they have strongly alleged that she was murdered and that her death was staged to look like suicide.
Following the complaint, police registered a dowry death case against the husband and five members of his family, including his parents, siblings, and other relatives. The accused are currently under investigation, and the husband is reportedly being questioned in custody.
The case adds to growing concerns over dowry-related deaths and harassment cases reported across parts of the country.
