LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu meets President Murmu

Newly appointed Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Friday met President Droupadi Murmu and held a series of review meetings with senior officials to assess key issues related to security, law and order, civic administration, and public services in the national Capital.
Sandhu, who took the oath as Delhi’s 23rd Lieutenant Governor on March 11, has begun consultations with senior officers across departments as part of his initial administrative review after assuming office.
During the day, the Lieutenant Governor called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan. In a message shared on the social media platform X, Sandhu said he received guidance and encouragement from the President during the meeting. “Honoured to call on Hon’ble President of India Droupadi Murmu and receive her guidance for the road ahead. Grateful for her encouragement,” Sandhu said in the post.
During his visit to the presidential estate, Sandhu also walked through the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan and interacted with visitors who had come to see the seasonal flower displays. The gardens, known as Amrit Udyan, attract a large number of visitors every year during February and March when a wide variety of flowers bloom.
Sharing photographs from the visit, the Lieutenant Governor said he enjoyed meeting residents of the capital who had gathered there. “A lovely walk through the famed gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan this forenoon. Nice to meet many Dilliwalas enjoying the spring blooms,” he said.
Later in the day, Sandhu held a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha at Lok Niwas. During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed the law and order situation in the national Capital and discussed the challenges related to security and policing.
Officials said the discussion also focused on strategies to deal with cybercrime and other emerging unconventional threats that are becoming increasingly significant in urban policing. Sandhu described the interaction as a productive discussion. “Had a good discussion with Satish Golchha, Commissioner of Police, Delhi Police, at Lok Niwas,” he said in a post on X. Apart from security issues, the Lieutenant Governor also met senior officials from other departments to review civic and administrative matters in the capital. He held discussions with Sanjeev Khirwar regarding several civic challenges faced by the city.
According to officials, the meeting focused on improving waste management systems and accelerating efforts to flatten the city’s large garbage mounds. The Lieutenant Governor also emphasised the need to improve transparency and efficiency in licensing and enforcement activities carried out by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
