LG Saxena awards winners as DDA LG Cup concludes

As part of its efforts to promote sporting activities and fitness culture in the national Capital, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) organised a multi-disciplinary sports tournament LG Cup. The grand finale was held on Monday at the Yamuna Sports Complex.
The competition covered three events, including football, archery and shooting. Lt Governor VK Saxena gave away awards to the winners. Minister of State for Road Transport and Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra, Vice Chairman (DDA) N Saravana Kumar and other senior officers of DDA were present on the occasion.
This year, the LG Cup for Football was held from 12 to 16 January 2026 at the DDA Sports Complex, Sector-17, Dwarka, with participation from 12 teams across men’s and women’s categories. Conducted in a knockout format, the tournament witnessed strong and spirited competition among emerging football talent. Team Young Boys won in the men’s category, while Hops FC won in the women’s category.
The LG Cup for Archery was organised at Yamuna Sports Complex from 16 to 17 January, 2026 and witnessed participation from 94 archers representing 13 States across Recurve Men and Women, and Compound Men and Women categories.
The competition included more than ten international archers, among whom were Youth World Champions of 2023 and 2025, as well as finalists from the World Cup 2025, reflecting the high competitive standards and international-level facilities provided at the venue.
In the Recurve Men, the Gold Medal was won by Kamal Sagar (Delhi), in the Recurve Women Gold Medal was awarded to Srishti Jaiswal (Chandigarh). While in Compound Men, Gold Medal went to Abhi Khatri (Delhi) and in Compound Women, Chikitha (Telangana) won the Gold.
The LG Cup for Shooting was conducted from 16 to 18 January 2026 at Siri Fort Sports Complex, covering Air Rifle and Air Pistol events under both National Rules and ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) formats across multiple age categories.
A total of 155 shooters participated in the competition, highlighting the growing popularity of shooting sports and the strong response from athletes across age groups in Delhi. The winner of Air Rifle (ISSF) was Anuj Kumar Chaudhari and Air Pistol (ISSF) was Sanvi Kansal.
The LG Cup stands as a celebration not merely of competition, but of a deep commitment to fitness, discipline, teamwork and the enduring sporting spirit that unites athletes and communities alike.
Through initiatives such as the LG Cup, DDA continues to foster a vibrant sporting culture, promote mass participation, and identify and nurture emerging talent, while encouraging a healthy, active and disciplined lifestyle among the residents of Delhi and the NCR.
