LG reviews functioning of Delhi Fire Service

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Thursday reviewed the functioning of the Delhi Fire Service and directed officials to heighten vigilance for effective emergency response.
In a post on X, the LG said the focus of the review was modernisation, infrastructure upgrades, and strengthening the personnel capacity of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) to enhance its emergency response system.
He also examined the proposed amendments to the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010, and emphasised the need for broad-based public consultations with residents, businessmen and traders to ensure that the framework is inclusive, practical and effective.
“Every regulatory framework, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, must promote ‘ease of living’ and ‘ease of doing business’, ensuring robust fire safety without creating unnecessary hurdles for citizens,” Sandgu said at the meeting.
The L-G also reviewed the summer action plan of the DFS and called for heightened vigilance in view of rising temperatures. He stressed the importance of a comprehensive public awareness campaign to educate citizens on preventive measures, regulatory safeguards, and effective emergency response practices.
