Delhi Police subsequently arrested the two men who were seen drinking inside a luxury car outside the officer’s residence, which triggered the incident.
“I have personally spoken with Brigadier PS Arora to enquire about the incident and their well-being. I also spoke with the police commissioner and the DCP, directing them to ensure a thorough and swift investigation, leading to immediate and appropriate action against those responsible,” Sandhu said.
He also directed the Delhi Police to provide full security to the officer and his family.
DCP South West Amit Goel confirmed the arrests of the two accused seen inside the vehicle. They have been identified as Satender alias Sonu, 49, son of Banwari Lal, a resident of 8/123, Mehram Nagar, New Delhi, and Sanjay Sharma, 56, son of Laxmi Narayan Sharma, a resident of 8/142, Mehram Nagar.
After the prompt action of the Delhi police, the LG appreciated the police administration. He wrote on the social media site X, “Appreciate the much-needed swift action by Delhi police in the Vasant Enclave case. The two key accused arrested and the vehicle seized, the investigation must be fast-tracked to ensure all accomplices are brought to justice.”
“We remain committed to ensuring the safety of our citizens and maintaining the accepted standards of law and order.” He added.
Satender is the Director of Chaudhary Aviation Pvt Ltd, a firm that provides chartered and cargo flight services and is involved in the sale and purchase of aircraft and aircraft parts. Sanjay Sharma runs Pandit Ji Dhaba at 8/252, Mehram Nagar. Both are being examined. The Mercedes vehicle in which they were found drinking has also been seized.
A case vide FIR No. 50/26 under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 351(2), 79, 191(2), and 190 of BNS has been registered on the complaint of the wife of the officer. During a preliminary inquiry, a lapse was found on the part of the inspector handling the investigation, and he has been suspended and sent to District Lines.
The assault occurred Saturday night after Brigadier PS Arora and his son, Tejas Singh Arora, saw two men drinking in a luxury car outside their home while on an after-dinner walk.
When they politely asked the men to move, the situation escalated. The family called the police, and according to Tejas, officers on arrival declined to record their complaint. One man spoke to the responding officer by phone, after which the officer postponed action.
Shortly after, seven to eight men arrived in two vehicles and began assaulting the brigadier and his son while threatening the officer’s wife. Tejas said he was beaten continuously for around 15 minutes in the presence of police personnel, who did not intervene.
Tejas sustained injuries to his face, neck, and palm. The brigadier’s wife alleged that the responding officer told her he could act only after his team arrived and that even after the attackers left, the officer refused to take them to the police station. “You are not the kind of people who deserve to sit on the seats,” she quoted the officer as saying.
At the police station, the family alleged they were made to wait for around half an hour. Despite Tejas bleeding, police insisted on a medical report before registering the complaint and provided no vehicle for hospital transport. The brigadier eventually took his son to the Army Hospital for treatment and X-rays.
