Leaders express grief over tragic blaze

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed condolences on Wednesday over the deaths of 21 people in the Malviya Nagar hotel fire, with the Prime Minister announcing an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for each person injured.
President Murmu said the news of the deaths was extremely heartbreaking. “I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured,” she said in a post on X.
Prime Minister Modi said authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected. “The loss of lives due to a fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, is tragic. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Wishing a speedy recovery to the injured,” a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said. It added that an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured.
Home Minister Amit Shah said he was deeply grieved by the incident. “My heart is deeply grieved by the fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi. The local administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations. My condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones in this heart-wrenching tragedy. May God grant strength to the bereaved families to bear this sorrow,” Shah wrote on X.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the incident as heart-wrenching. “The fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. I pray to God that He grants them the strength to bear this immense sorrow. At the same time, I wish for a speedy recovery for the injured,” Singh wrote on X.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu said he was deeply distressed. “Deeply distressed by the tragic fire at a hotel in Hauz Rani, Malviya Nagar. My thoughts and condolences are with the families of the deceased, and I join all in praying for the swift recovery of those injured,” Sandhu said.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government is closely monitoring the situation and stands firmly with the affected families. “I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured and for strength and courage to all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy,” she said.
