Kuwait Airport suspends flights after Drone Attack amid Iran–US Escalation in Gulf

Kuwait International Airport suspended flight operations after reports of drone and missile attacks on Terminal 1, amid escalating tensions in the ongoing Iran–US conflict in the Gulf region.
According to Kuwaiti authorities, multiple “hostile drones” targeted airport facilities, causing significant damage and leading to reported human injuries. Emergency protocols were activated immediately, and flights were diverted as security forces assessed the situation.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that Iranian missiles aimed at Kuwait were intercepted or failed to reach their targets. Meanwhile, Iran claimed responsibility for coordinated attacks on US-linked military and strategic assets in the Gulf, including alleged strikes in Kuwait and Bahrain.
Earlier updates indicated that warning sirens were activated in Bahrain, while regional air defence systems were deployed across multiple Gulf nations following incoming drone and missile threats. Kuwait’s military confirmed damage to airport infrastructure and urged citizens to avoid debris and follow safety instructions.
The situation remains highly volatile, with both Iran and the United States trading claims of strikes and interceptions, raising fears of wider regional escalation.
