Kumaraswamy meets EV manufacturers in Bengaluru to boost India's electric two-wheeler ecosystem

Union Heavy Industries Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy held a high-level meeting with leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers in Bengaluru on Saturday to discuss ways to strengthen India's electric mobility ecosystem. The discussions focused on promoting indigenous manufacturing, accelerating innovation, improving supply chains and enhancing the global competitiveness of India's EV industry.
During the meeting, Kumaraswamy emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the electric vehicle sector through industry-friendly policies and continued collaboration with manufacturers. He urged stakeholders to work together to develop advanced technologies, localise critical components and build a resilient domestic EV ecosystem.
The discussions also covered strategies to expand EV adoption, strengthen charging infrastructure and address challenges faced by manufacturers.

The interaction comes as India continues to push electric mobility under initiatives such as the PM E-DRIVE scheme, which aims to increase EV adoption and develop nationwide charging infrastructure. The government believes that close coordination with industry will help position India as a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing while reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting sustainable transportation.
