KIIT founder conferred honorary doctorate

Noted educationist, social worker and founder of KIIT and KISS, Dr Achyuta Samanta, received an honorary doctorate from Karnataka University, Dharwad, marking his 71st such award.
Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot presented the honorary doctorate to Dr Samanta for his outstanding contribution towards societal development through education. The ceremony was attended by Karnataka higher education minister MC Sudhakar, Padma awardee and former Chairman of ISRO AS Kiran Kumar and Vice-Chancellor of the university AN Khan, among others.
Karnataka University, Dharwad, is an 80-year-old educational institution in the state. The university’s Academic Council and Board of Management had recommended Dr Samanta’s name for the honorary doctorate, which was approved by the Governor.
Dr Samanta said he has been continuously working in the fields of education and social service for more than three decades, and the honours will further inspire him to continue with his dedicated efforts in these areas.
