Keralam to install sanitary napkin vending machines at public places

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 3 (PTI) The Keralam government will install sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators at public places, including tourist destinations and KSRTC terminals, to facilitate women's travel.
The Women and Child Development Department will launch the initiative, named WOMN (Women on the Move & Menstrual Needs), on October 6 as part of the state government's 100-day action programme.
The project aims to make sanitary napkins available to women and girls at affordable rates during travel and provide facilities for their environment-friendly disposal, the department said.
The initiative will cover major tourist destinations, KSRTC terminals and depots and other public places across the state.
Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna will inaugurate the project at the Thampanoor KSRTC bus terminal here at 5 pm on Tuesday, it said.
