Two arrested in Karnataka over suspected terror-related conspiracy to disrupt public peace

Two persons have been arrested in Karnataka's Chikkaballapura for allegedly posting provocative messages in a closed social media group as part of a suspected terror-related conspiracy to disrupt public peace, police said on Friday.  

One of the accused was arrested on Wednesday, while the second was taken into custody on Thursday. Police have not disclosed their identities but said one is a resident of Chikkaballapura and the other has been living in Karnataka for some time.

Chikkaballapura Superintendent of Police Padmini Sahoo said a preliminary investigation indicated that the two were allegedly involved in a conspiracy to disturb public peace.

Police said the duo allegedly discussed a suspected terror-related conspiracy in the closed group. A case was registered after police came across the provocative messages, and the two were arrested for further questioning.

Police said details about their backgrounds, alleged motive and any possible links to a larger group would be established during further investigation.  (with inputs from PTI)
