Jor Bagh named NDMC’s next ‘Anupam Colony’ by Vice Chairman

Vice Chairman NDMC, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, on Sunday declared Jor Bagh as the civic body’s next “Anupam Colony” and led a plantation drive there under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, an official said.
‘Anupam Colony’ initiative is based on 100 per cent waste segregation at source, on-site composting, recycling and active community participation to promote cleaner and greener neighbourhoods.
The drive saw participation from resident welfare association members, local residents, senior citizens and NDMC officials and staff, an official statement said.
Before the plantation drive, Chahal unveiled a certification board declaring Jor Bagh as NDMC’s latest “Anupam Colony”, an initiative focused on sustainable and decentralised waste management, the statement added.
“‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is not merely a plantation drive, but a mass movement of emotional and social responsibility. When we plant a tree, we lay the foundation for a secure future for coming generations while paying tribute to our mothers and Mother Nature,” Chahal said.
He said Jor Bagh has joined colonies such as Satya Sadan Officers Flats, Bharti Nagar, Aradhana Colony, Bapu Dham Colony, New Moti Bagh and Kaka Nagar under NDMC’s “Towards Cleaner and Greener Colonies” vision.
“Under the vision of ‘Towards Cleaner and Greener Colonies’, Jor Bagh has now been certified as NDMC’s next ‘Anupam Colony’,” he said.
Chahal said NDMC has prepared a year-long green calendar under which plantation drives will be held every Sunday across New Delhi. He also urged citizens to respond to the Prime Minister’s call for responsible civic behaviour and collective participation during challenging times.
