Jaipur Engineer booked for wife’s dowry death after CCTV footage shows alleged assault

A case of alleged dowry death in Jaipur has taken a major turn after CCTV footage reportedly surfaced showing Executive Engineer Gautam Meena assaulting his wife Anu at their home, weeks before her death, which was initially treated as a suicide.
Police have now registered a dowry death and abetment case against the husband after the victim’s family submitted digital evidence including video, audio recordings, and other materials recovered from her mobile phone.
According to the investigation, the CCTV footage allegedly captures repeated instances of domestic violence inside the couple’s residence. The videos are said to show physical assault and harassment, strengthening the family’s claim that the death was not a simple case of suicide.
Anu reportedly died on April 7, and the case was initially closed as a suspected suicide. However, the emergence of fresh evidence has led police to reopen the investigation and examine the role of the husband more closely.
Authorities are now reviewing CCTV clips, call records, and bank transactions as part of the ongoing probe into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The case has once again highlighted concerns over domestic violence and dowry-related harassment, with investigators continuing to verify the authenticity of the digital evidence and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the woman’s death.
