Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian invites PM Modi to Khamenei's funeral

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the burial ceremonies of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to diplomatic sources.
The funeral ceremonies are scheduled to be held from July 5 to July 9 across multiple cities, including Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad. The final rites are expected to take place in Mashhad on July 9.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the Indian government regarding the invitation or the Prime Minister’s participation in the event.
According to sources, the invitation was extended by President Pezeshkian as part of diplomatic protocol for global leaders. The development comes amid ongoing international attention on Iran’s political transition following Khamenei’s death.
Khamenei, who led Iran for three decades, passed away on February 28, reportedly following a period of heightened regional tensions and military strikes earlier this year.
Further clarity is awaited from New Delhi regarding India’s representation at the ceremonies.
