Indian Army spreads smiles for specially-abled children

The Red Shield Gunners under the aegis of Spear Corps organised an educational and recreational visit to the Golden Pagoda, located at Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh, on 16 July 2026 for 15 specially abled children and eight staff members from Navarupantar Children's Home, Rupai. The Golden Pagoda, one of Northeast India’s prominent Buddhist landmarks, is renowned for its peaceful surroundings, striking golden architecture and cultural significance. The initiative aimed to provide the children with a memorable experience beyond their daily routine while promoting learning, inclusion and social interaction. During the visit, the children toured the magnificent Golden Pagoda complex, admired its unique architecture and learnt about its history, Buddhist traditions and the values of peace, compassion and harmony associated with the shrine. They spent time exploring the beautifully landscaped Pagoda, interacted enthusiastically with Indian Army personnel, participated in informal recreational activities, clicked photographs and enjoyed the tranquil surroundings. The visit offered a refreshing and enriching experience, encouraging curiosity, confidence and joyful learning. The Indian Army ensured the comfort, safety and well-being of all participants throughout the visit. The initiative fostered confidence, strengthened social bonds and created lasting memories for the children, reflecting the Army’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and holistic development of specially abled children.
