India in talks to sell BrahMos and Akashteer Defence Deal with UAE– Report

India is reportedly in advanced discussions with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a major defence export deal that could include the sale of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile—widely regarded as one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world—along with the Akashteer air defence system, according to media reports.
The proposed agreement would mark a significant expansion of India–UAE defence cooperation, with Abu Dhabi showing interest in strengthening its missile and air defence capabilities amid shifting regional security dynamics in the Middle East.
The BrahMos missile, jointly developed by India and Russia, is known for its high speed and multi-platform launch capability from land, sea, and air. The Akashteer system, meanwhile, is an advanced automated air defence network developed in India to integrate and coordinate battlefield air defence operations.
Reports suggest that the discussions are still at an early stage, and any potential BrahMos export would require approval from Russia due to its joint development structure. However, officials indicate that this is unlikely to become a major hurdle given existing strategic ties.
India has been actively pushing defence exports in recent years, with growing global interest in indigenous systems such as BrahMos and Akash variants. The UAE could become one of the most high-profile customers if the deal moves forward.
