India Condemns Attacks on Ships in Strait of Hormuz at UN

India has strongly condemned recent attacks on commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, calling such incidents “unacceptable” and raising concerns over the safety of global maritime routes.
Speaking at the United Nations, India highlighted the importance of protecting civilian vessels and ensuring uninterrupted movement through one of the world’s most critical shipping corridors.
Indian representatives stressed that commercial shipping and civilian crew members should never become targets of violence or military action.

The country also emphasized that freedom of navigation is essential for global trade, energy security, and economic stability. India expressed concern that disruptions in the region could have serious consequences for international supply chains and economies worldwide.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the busiest and most strategically important maritime routes in the world, carrying a large share of global oil and trade traffic.
Rising tensions in the region and attacks on vessels have increased concerns about the safety of seafarers and international commerce. India called for the immediate restoration of safe and uninterrupted maritime movement in the region.
