India condemns attack on vessel off Oman, says 10 crew members rescued, one still missing

India has strongly condemned the attack on the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman, calling the incident "deeply worrisome" amid rising tensions in the region. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that 11 Indian nationals were on board the vessel. Of them, 10 have been rescued, while one Indian crew member remains missing.
In an official statement, the MEA said the Indian Embassy in Oman is closely coordinating with Omani authorities and monitoring the ongoing search and rescue operation. India also thanked the Omani government for its swift response and assistance in rescuing the crew members.
The government reiterated its concern over attacks on commercial shipping, stressing the importance of ensuring the safety of seafarers and maintaining secure international maritime routes.
The incident comes amid heightened instability in the Gulf region, where recent attacks on commercial vessels have raised concerns over maritime security. Indian authorities said they are closely tracking the situation and remain in contact with local officials until the missing crew member is located.
