India condemns attack on UAE nuclear plant calls it dangerous escalation

India has strongly condemned the drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates, calling it a “dangerous escalation” and urging all parties to exercise restraint and return to dialogue and diplomacy.
The Ministry of External Affairs said India is deeply concerned about the attack targeting the nuclear facility, which is a critical source of electricity generation in the UAE. The statement emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and pose a serious threat to regional stability.
According to the UAE authorities, three drones entered from the western border, one of which struck the inner perimeter of the nuclear facility while the remaining two were intercepted before causing further damage. Officials confirmed that there were no injuries and no impact on radiation levels following the incident.
The Barakah nuclear plant, which has four reactors, is the first nuclear facility in the Arab world and supplies a significant share of the UAE’s electricity needs. It was developed with international cooperation and began operations in 2020.
UAE leaders strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an unacceptable act of aggression and a direct threat to national security and sovereignty. Diplomatic outreach was also carried out with several Gulf countries, which collectively condemned the strike and expressed support for the UAE’s right to respond.
Regional tensions remain high amid ongoing instability in West Asia, with concerns that such attacks could further escalate the conflict and derail fragile diplomatic efforts.
