Illegal constructions, hotels under scanner in South East Delhi

Fresh inspections carried out by revenue authorities in South East Delhi have revealed multiple cases of unauthorised construction, fire safety violations and irregularities in hotels and buildings, according to the Revenue Department’s latest inspection report dated June 7, 2026.
The report, prepared by sub-divisional authorities in Kalkaji and Jangpura, details action initiated against several properties where violations were found during field inspections. The inspections form part of the Delhi Government’s intensified crackdown on illegal constructions and safety violations following recent fire incidents in the Capital.
In the Kalkaji subdivision, officials identified four properties in the Madanpur Khadar area where unauthorised construction activity was allegedly taking place in the O Zone area.
The violations were found near Makki Masjid in Madanpur Khadar Part III. According to the report, all four sites were inspected on June, 7 and show-cause notices were issued to the owners or occupants.
One of the properties, located behind A-70 in Khasra No. 812, was found to have a two-floor structure under unauthorised construction. Another property behind A-55 in the same Khasra number had a three-floor structure under construction.
A separate portion of Khasra No. 812 was reported to have a six-floor unauthorised structure, while another plot identified as Plot No. 12 in Khasra No. 812 had a two-floor building under construction. In all four cases, officials recorded that violations had been found and show-cause notices were served.
The report specifically noted that none of the four properties had fire NOCs. Authorities also recorded that the constructions were taking place in the O Zone area, which is subject to strict land-use regulations.
The inspections were conducted under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kalkaji.
In a separate inspection carried out by the Jangpura subdivision, officials examined hotels operating in Lajpat Nagar-IV. Two establishments were inspected during the exercise. One hotel, Bamyan The Boutique located at 6A Ring Road, was found operating with a valid fire NOC, and no violation was recorded against it. The five-floor hotel cleared the inspection without adverse remarks.
However, another hotel identified as Royal Comfort in Dayanand Colony was found operating without a fire NOC. Officials recorded that violations were detected at the premises, and a show-cause notice was issued. The inspection report described the property as a five-floor hotel.
According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the government’s policy on illegal construction is unambiguous. “Violations of the ground-plus-five limit and prescribed construction norms will not be accepted under any circumstances in the capital. If any individual, builder, or institution undertakes construction in violation of the rules, strict action will be taken in accordance with the law. No one will be allowed to put people’s lives at risk,” she said.
The Chief Minister said the government is also working on long-term structural reforms in building safety. Among the possibilities under consideration is a third-party insurance mechanism for public-use buildings, guest houses, nursing homes, and other institutions.
