IIT Delhi student found dead

A first-year student of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside a campus apartment on Thursday morning. The student was declared dead after being taken for medical examination, and a case has been registered as part of an investigation into the suspected suicide.
According to police, a PCR call about the incident was received at Kishangarh Police Station at around 8:35 am on March 12. After receiving information, a police team rushed to the New Vindhyachal Apartment located inside the IIT Delhi campus, where the student was found hanging from a ceiling fan with the help of a stole. An attending doctor from the IIT Delhi hospital examined the student at the spot and declared him brought dead.
Police said the deceased was a first-year student who had been living in the apartment with his mother. Preliminary investigation revealed that the student’s mother had left for her native place on March 10. She last spoke to her son on the phone at around 11 pm on March 11. When the student did not respond to calls the following morning, another resident of the apartment checked on him. With the help of security staff, the room door was opened, and the student was found hanging inside.
Police were immediately informed, and the PCR team rushed to the location. Officials said a crime team and forensic experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory inspected the scene and collected evidence as part of the investigation. No suicide note was recovered from the room during the inspection.
Police said the student’s father was informed about the incident, and his statement was recorded by investigators. According to officials, the father told the police that he had no suspicion of foul play. The body was later sent to Safdarjung Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. After completion of the legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family.
