Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday participated in the Annual Day celebrations of Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi. Appreciating the students’ achievements, Birla stated that hard work, discipline, and sustained effort are the true keys to success.
Commending the college’s inspiring journey of growth and its excellent academic environment, the Lok Sabha Speaker described it as a robust hub of modern education. He identified initiatives such as research, innovation, and the ‘Abdul Kalam Research Centre’ as the bedrock of the intellectual prowess of a ‘Developed India.’
Emphasising the role of the youth, he underscored the imperative of their active participation in skill development, entrepreneurship, and the realisation of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).
Environmental conservation, sustainable development, and responsible citizenship were highlighted as essential components of contemporary education.
Referencing the objective of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India 2047), he called upon the youth to assume a leading role in the task of nation-building.
The life of the illustrious figure, Maharaja Agrasen, serves as a source of inspiration for us all; his welfare-oriented system of governance remains a benchmark of excellence to this day.
The Lok Sabha Speaker remarked that the life of Maharaja Agrasen stands as a quintessential example of what an ideal system of governance should embody.
Citing the life and visionary leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, he noted that his persona serves as the inspiration behind India’s robust constitutional framework. He asserted that India’s parliamentary system ranks among the finest governance models globally and that our Constitution serves as an exemplary guiding light for everyone.
Understanding, studying, and conducting research into the lives, history, and philosophies of the nation’s great luminaries is indispensable for the holistic personality development of the youth.
He observed that as the youth internalise these ideals, their self-confidence and their commitment to the cause of nation-building will be further strengthened.
“Today, the youth of India are presented with boundless opportunities; the fact that Indian talent is at the helm of leading global corporations and occupying top-tier positions stands as irrefutable proof of this reality,” Birla said.
