Gurugram police advise WFH as heavy rain triggers severe traffic chaos

Amid relentless rainfall and widespread waterlogging, Gurugram Police have advised corporate offices and private establishments to allow employees to work from home (WFH) to ease traffic congestion and ensure public safety. The advisory was issued late Tuesday after heavy showers left key roads and expressways gridlocked across the city.
According to the police, reducing the number of vehicles on the road will help emergency services operate more efficiently and minimise inconvenience to commuters as adverse weather conditions persist. The advisory comes as several major roads, underpasses and service lanes remain inundated, with long traffic snarls reported from multiple parts of Gurugram.
Heavy rainfall caused severe waterlogging across business hubs and residential areas, leaving thousands of commuters stranded for hours. Authorities deployed rescue teams and intensified traffic management efforts, while urging residents to avoid non-essential travel until conditions improve.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain over the coming days, raising concerns of further flooding and traffic disruptions across Delhi-NCR. Officials have asked motorists to plan journeys in advance, follow traffic advisories and use alternate routes wherever possible.
The WFH advisory follows similar precautionary measures taken in other rain-affected cities, as authorities attempt to reduce congestion and ensure public safety during the ongoing monsoon spell.
