Govt will host programmes to pay tribute to BR Ambedkar: Minister

The Delhi Government will host a series of programmes from April 10-14 to pay tribute to Bharat Ratna Bhimrao Ambedkar to mark his 136th birth anniversary, Minister for Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare Ravinder Indraj Singh said on Thursday.
He invited all citizens to participate, stating that this year Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary will be celebrated in Delhi in a grand and enthusiastic manner. A major highlight will be the “Bhim Jyoti Utsav” to be organised near India Gate, in the Kasturba Gandhi Marg area, where rich literature related to Baba Saheb and important aspects of his life will be displayed through a special gallery.
He informed that visitors will get an opportunity to explore and understand various aspects of Baba Saheb’s life, thoughts and struggles. In addition, several folk-cultural programmes, performances and diverse activities will be organised to take his ideas to the masses.
He also informed that under “Bhim Jyoti Utsav - 2026”, large-scale programmes will be organised across various locations in the capital, ensuring participation from all sections of society. This event is not just a celebration but a powerful campaign to spread Baba Saheb’s thoughts, the core values of the Constitution and the message of social harmony.
The programme series will include floral tributes, public participation activities, the “Constitution Fest”, exhibitions, awareness campaigns, cultural performances, walkathons, interactive sessions, workshops, quiz competitions and art exhibitions. These activities aim to educate youth and students about the Constitution, their rights and duties.
