Govt to organise grand event on April 8 to mark World Banjara Day

The Delhi Government will organise a grand event on April 8 to mark World Banjara Day. The Art, Culture, and Language Minister Kapil Mishra said on Thursday that the Government will highlight the history, culture, and contributions of the Banjara community.
The announcement came during a meeting between the minister and a delegation of the Banjara Vimukt Ghumantu Kalyan Sangh at the Delhi Secretariat.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming programme and ways to showcase the rich cultural traditions of the Banjara community.
According to officials, the event will highlight the historical role of the Banjara community in trade and social life across the country. Mishra said the programme will introduce the younger generation to the community’s legacy and cultural heritage.
“The Banjara community has played a significant role in the history and trading traditions of India. At a time when modern transport systems were not developed, Banjaras supplied essential goods to different parts of the country and strengthened trade networks,” the minister said. He added that the community’s folk traditions, cultural practices, and contributions to nation-building remain an important part of India’s heritage.
