Government to redevelop and beautify spaces under flyovers

In a significant push to improve the city’s urban landscape, the Delhi Government on Monday signed a key MoU to redevelop and beautify spaces beneath flyovers. The initiative aims to turn underutilised and often neglected stretches beneath flyovers into clean, organised and visually appealing public spaces. The agreement was formalised in the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has partnered under CSR initiatives with Dalmia Bharat Limited, Godrej Industries Group and EaseMyTrip Foundation to execute the project. The Chief Minister said the Government is working closely with the private sector to accelerate public welfare projects and enhance the city’s overall infrastructure.
Cabinet Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh and senior officials from the concerned departments were also present at the event. Rekha Gupta said the plan is to convert neglected spaces under flyovers into vibrant, functional areas for public use.
These spaces will feature green zones, wall murals, seating arrangements, improved sanitation systems and other civic amenities, helping them evolve into recognisable urban landmarks.
Calling it a step towards a ‘clean and beautiful Delhi,’ the Chief Minister thanked the participating organisations and said such public-private collaborations would help transform the capital into a modern, clean and attractive city. She also expressed confidence that initiatives like this would contribute to India’s broader vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Parvesh Sahib Singh described the project as a meaningful step towards reshaping Delhi’s urban infrastructure.
Under the project, different companies will take up beautification work across several flyovers. EaseMyTrip Foundation will redevelop the Apsara Border flyover stretch (from the MCD toll tax booth to the UP border, approx. 800 metres) and the Mayur Vihar Phase-1 flyover (from Kanain Road cut to Samachar Apartments, approx 820 metres). Godrej Industries Group will develop the Netaji Subhash Place (NSP) flyover stretch (from Ring Road to NSP Metro Station, approx 570 metres).
Dalmia Bharat Limited will take up the Oberoi flyover (from Neela Gumbad to Golf Links, approx 700 metres), the Lodhi flyover (from Oberoi Hotel to Shamshan Ghat BRT Road, approx 700 metres), and the Mangi Setu/Hanuman Setu stretch (from Red Fort to Salimgarh Fort, approx 400 metres).
