Government to boost film tourism, employment, says Kapil Mishra

The Delhi Government is taking concrete steps to develop the national Capital as a leading hub in media, entertainment, and emerging technologies. In this direction, special emphasis is being placed on promoting Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC), Artificial Intelligence, and modern studio infrastructure.
In line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an Atmanirbhar Bharat, film tourism and employment generation will be given a significant boost. This was stated by Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra while presenting the Delhi Government’s vision on the theme “Delhi as India’s Creative Capital: Film Tourism for Economic Growth” at the IFFD Industry Conclave 2026.
The Tourism Minister stated that the Government aims to develop an integrated centre in Delhi where creativity, technology, and innovation can flourish under one roof.
He emphasised that Delhi possesses a vast talent pool, strong technical capabilities, and a dynamic youth population, which will be empowered through the right platforms to achieve new heights. Platforms like IFFD will play a crucial role in realising the vision of a developed Delhi under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Mishra further informed that a new film policy is being formulated to position Delhi as a preferred film destination. Under this policy, the Government will provide a subsidy of up to `3 crore for film shootings conducted in Delhi.
