Government mark Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram

The Delhi Government on Friday marked the Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram with a grand cultural programme at the Delhi Secretariat. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta extended greetings to the people of both states and said the celebration reflects the spirit of “Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat”.
The event was organised to commemorate February 20, 1987, the day Mizoram became India’s 23rd state and Arunachal Pradesh the 24th. Cabinet ministers of the Delhi Government were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are strong symbols of India’s cultural diversity and unity. She said the Northeastern states inspire the country through their natural beauty, rich traditions and deep sense of patriotism. She stated that the programme aligns with the vision of strengthening national integration through cultural exchange. According to her, such events help bring different regions of the country closer and promote mutual understanding.
The Chief Minister highlighted the unique identity of both states. She said Mizoram’s lush greenery and high literacy rate are a source of inspiration. She also noted that Arunachal Pradesh’s Buddhist monasteries, scenic valleys and tribal diversity have global appeal.
Minister for Art, Culture & Languages Kapil Mishra said Delhi, being the heart of the nation, is proud to host celebrations of the foundation days of various states. He said observing such occasions is another important step in honouring India’s diverse heritage.
