Government issues Ebola advisory for passengers arriving from high-risk African nations

The Government of India has issued a health advisory for passengers arriving from or transiting through high-risk African countries following growing concerns over Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa.
The move comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the ongoing outbreak in certain regions a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), prompting countries to strengthen monitoring and preparedness measures.
The advisory applies mainly to travelers coming from or passing through countries identified as high risk, including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda, and South Sudan. Passengers showing symptoms or with a recent history of exposure have been instructed to immediately report to airport health authorities before immigration procedures.

Health authorities have also intensified surveillance and screening procedures at airports, seaports, and other entry points across the country.
Measures include thermal screening, health declarations, and closer monitoring of travelers from affected regions. Authorities stated that these steps are preventive and aimed at ensuring early detection and reducing any risk of transmission within India.
Officials have clarified that India has not reported any Ebola cases so far and that the current risk level remains low.
However, the government has increased preparedness efforts to ensure a rapid response if any suspected cases emerge.
