GDA demolishes illegal building, colony in Avantika, Mahrauli

The Ghaziabad Development Authority on Wednesday demolished unauthorised construction at two separate locations. The GDA razed a building that violated the sanctioned plan at Plot CD-16A in Avantika and demolished an unauthorised colony being developed on approximately 6,600 square yards of land at Village Mahrauli near the Mahagun Group Housing Society. The demolition was opposed from the construction owners managed by the Authority Police Force at both sites.
In the Avantika case, the construction at Plot CD-16A was undertaken by Manoj Beniwal and Vijaya Beniwal in violation of the sanctioned building plan, with the construction encroaching on the mandatory setback area. The GDA registered Case No GDA/ANI/ 2026/0005057 and served a Show Cause Notice and Stop Work Notice on February 26, 2026, followed by a Reminder Notice on March 13, 2026.
Since no satisfactory reply or supporting evidence was submitted by the owners in response, the GDA proceeded with demolition on Wednesday. The unauthorised portion was demolished and rendered unusable, and the construction was also sealed on the same day to prevent any further building activity at the site.
In the Village Mahrauli case, developer Abhishek Garg along with landowners Sushila Tyagi and Deepak Tyagi had been carrying out unauthorised plotting on approximately 6,600 square yards of land at Khasra Numbers 816, 819, 820, and 821. The development work included soil filling, connecting a temporary road to NH-09, and preparing to lay a sewer line, all without any approval from the GDA.
The Authority registered Case No GDA/ANI/2025/0004754 on November 20, 2025, and served a Show Cause Notice and Stop Work Notice on the same date. No satisfactory response was received from the developer. On Wednesday, the GDA demolished and rendered unusable the unauthorised construction and development work at the site.
