Former MP Vinayak Raut, family booked after daughter-in-law alleges harassment

Former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Vinayak Raut, his son Gitesh Raut, and several other family members have been booked after his daughter-in-law filed a complaint alleging physical and mental harassment.
The FIR was registered at Kapurbawdi Police Station in Maharashtra's Thane district under multiple legal provisions, including the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act. Police have launched an investigation into the allegations.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that she was subjected to coercive rituals and other forms of abuse in the belief that they would help her conceive. She also claimed she was forced to consume unidentified pills and faced repeated physical and emotional harassment after her marriage.
The accused have denied the allegations. Police said one of the individuals named in the FIR, a self-styled godman, has been arrested, while the investigation into the remaining allegations is ongoing.
Authorities said they are recording statements and collecting evidence as part of the investigation. Officials have not reached any conclusions on the allegations, and the matter remains under police inquiry.
