Fire breaks out in Jaynagar-Udhna Antyodaya Express coaches at Madhubani Station

A fire broke out in the empty coaches of the Jaynagar–Udhna Antyodaya Express at Madhubani Railway Station in Bihar on Thursday, causing panic at the station after one coach was completely gutted.
According to officials, the train was stationed at Platform No. 3 and undergoing shunting operations when the incident occurred. The blaze erupted in one of the coaches while the train was stationary, quickly spreading and damaging the carriage.
Railway authorities confirmed that the affected coach was entirely destroyed in the fire. However, no casualties have been reported as the train was not carrying passengers at the time of the incident.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Samastipur Division, Jyoti Prakash Mishra, said that a detailed multi-department investigation has been ordered.
“All departments including Safety, Electrical, Operations and Security will examine every aspect of the incident. We have spoken with passengers, staff, and gathered on-ground feedback,” he said.
Officials are also exploring all possible angles, including technical faults and the possibility of involvement of anti-social elements.
The incident has drawn attention due to a similar fire that occurred in 2022 at the same platform, when coaches of the Swatantrata Senani Express were also damaged by fire.
Authorities have initiated a full inquiry, and further details are awaited.
