Father-Daughter killed, 5 injured in Mercedes collision on Ganga Expressway in UP

A father and daughter were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between two cars, including a Mercedes, on the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district on Tuesday, police said.
According to officials, the accident occurred near Azhra village when a Volkswagen Polo reportedly entered the expressway from the wrong side and collided head-on with a Mercedes car travelling from Noida to Lucknow.
Police said Arvind Kumar (55) and his daughter Yamini (30), both residents of Chandausi, died on the spot in the crash. They were travelling in the Volkswagen Polo.
Three other occupants of the Polo and two passengers in the Mercedes sustained injuries and were taken to the district hospital for treatment.
Personnel from the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and local police rushed to the site after receiving information and shifted the injured for medical care.
Authorities said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
